It looks like a big difference to me and I’ve handled both at Best Buy and really preferred the size of the Mark II with the 24-200 FF equiv. lens.

Everyone’s different, but for me the smaller the camera the more likely I am to take it with me and use it.

I’ve never had a FF 600 equiv lens, but my best guess is that if I had a 24-600 lens, 90+% of my shots would be at 200 equiv or less. So for me, the smaller size would be worth it.

I too thought that the 600mm end would be rarely used-Not so! I find that the major feature of the RX10 MKIII/IV.

After all you get a 24-70mm, one or more stop faster lens in the tiny Sony RX100 MKIII-MKV. Realize that the 600mm length is, effectively, hand holdable and the lens focuses extremely close too.

Something has gone seriously wrong with the RX10 II image there - it's clearly been squashed horizontally, it's a good bit closer to the RX10 IV in reality!

Interesting to hear Matt. Personally I've pre-ordered the 10iv but never held the 10ii or 10iii.

Speaking as one who has never held any of these models, that comparison does look rather exaggerated. Checking the specs, the dimensions (W x H x D in inches) of rx10ii are 5.1 x 3.5 x 4.0, while rx10iv are 5.25 x 3.75 x 5.13. So the ii should save a little over an inch in depth, making it feel more compact.

I think the front and top views are right, @mitesh. It's just the side view that's skewed. I don't remember the RX10II having elipse-shaped screws and buttons, anyway. Just using the longest/widest/deepest points doesn't tell the whole story of the additional bulk. We're also comparing an 8.3x zoom with a 25x zoom, so the additional bulk shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone.

The Mark III feels considerably bigger and heavier than the first two versions, even though the difference isn't that much. The grip is much deeper, and that changes the "feel" of the camera a lot.

Here's the size comparison that I originally posted in the other thread:

I'm not sure why MedicineMan404 thought I needed to see another one, but after holding both cameras, I think it's pretty accurate.
