p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · NIK plugins will not work with my Adobe PS 2017 or OS Version 10.11.6

My current OS version is 10.11.6

But according to the NIK download site:

1. "The Nik Collection is free and compatible with Mac OS X 10.7 through 10.10; Windows Vista, 7, 8; and Adobe Photoshop through CC 2015. We have no plans to update the Collection or add new features over time."

2. I also just allowed CC to upgrade my PS from 2015 to 2017. My copy of PS 2015 is now gone.

I really like the NIK plugins. Big mistake. But then again...what is one supposed to do? On one hand, the companies are pushing us to upgrade and on the other, if we do, we are likely to find that some associated software or firmware will no longer function.

Bottom line: Is there a way that I may keep using these NIK plugins ?

Thanks ahead

Robert

I am having no problems using the plug-ins in Lightroom on my Sierra MacBook or Windows 10 desktop.

I suspect , in addition to not updating the software, they are also not updating the website.

what is making them not work with the new version? do you just have to move the nik program over to the plugins on the new version?

When you upgraded your Photoshop you need to move the NIK software plugin into the new Photoshop folder. Here dips the new location C:Program FilesCommon FilesAdobePlug-InsCC.

Yup, just move the folders and it will work fine.

Check out the MacPhun plugins. I really like them, especially Tonality for black and white.

If you use Apple Photos, they offer a free app, Filters for Photos: https://macphun.com/filters-for-photos

Google officially terminated support for Nik a week or so ago, though they've been broadcasting that they'd be doing so for a while now:

Google discontinues Nik Collection photo editing tool development

Just noted that this has been discussed elsewhere.

Update from PetaPixel post:

"Update on 6/21/17: It looks like Nik Software actually does support 64-bit compatibility across its range of plug-ins. "
