In addition:
- Smaller and Lighter
- Leica similar build quality and full metal body and dials (A7 is almost all plastic)
- Silent shutter (A7 sounds loud)
- Precision aligned and matched lens-to-sensor design, sharper than and unattainable by any FF interchangeable camera with a similar Zeiss lens (including the A7 + Zeiss 35mm most likely)
Btw: I don't have an RX1 nor the A7 (I am an ex-5D, 5D2, 60D, Nex 5n, OMD user; and currently only have the Ricoh GR)
...but with the A7's recent announcement, I have been researching more and more about the RX1. I know it's been out for quite some time; but I never got around to reading about it until the A7 was announced; mostly because the RX1's high price put me off and I thought I could never afford one. But then I realized they could be had for so cheap on the used market. I was super attracted to the A7...but the more I read about the RX1, it has much more that I want (f2 lens, metal build quality, smaller and lighter, super sharp and super IQ, etc.) over the A7 and is also much cheaper if bought used than an A7+Zeiss lens.
So me, not even having an RX1, and with the announcement of an exciting new A7...I would STILL pickand want an RX1... time to start saving
ps: I just hope Sony doesn't phase out the RX1 model, because of the new A7. I hope they continue on making the RX1. The people Need a small, fixed, compact, high-quality, FF camera in the world
