Shoot with it, not at it. Damned Americans.

I can think of many ways to shoot a 6D and 24-105. First thing I would reach for is a friends Ithaca 20 guage Turketslayer...however, I prefer my 6D and 24-105 @ iso 200 on a tripod taking pics of Mono Lake at sunrise, but to each his own...

Your opinions on the performance of camera and lens would be of more value to us.

I bought the same combo back at the beginning of January. Upgraded from a 60D, best camera I have ever used. It is very similar to my 60D and 15-85 combo, but the 6D with the 24-105 just feels more solid, more professional, like a more serious photographic tool, and the quality of images I have been able to make with this camera and lens are some of the highest I have ever made.

Enjoy your purchase! I certainly have been.

Enjoy! I just got mine as well. I have used a Sony A700 for a long time now and I never thought I'd find a camera I enjoy using as much as that one. Note the importance of "enjoy using".... for me it's about the feel, usability and personality of a camera as much as the spec sheet. After literally many years and countless cameras the 6D is closer than any other camera to fulfilling the designation of A700 replacement. I really like it...

Got to shoot a few pictures of my son today playing soccer. Still seeking an understanding of the camera buttons/locations, but did manage to get a few good shots.

I think the 24-105 will work fine as a walk around lens. However comments suggesting a lock at 24 are spot on.

My fat hands don't fit well on the 6D. Lucky for me the camera shop is just down the street from my sons home fields. I added the additional grip.

Looking forward to my first real shoot on Sunday.

Have fun with it. I got my kit a month ago. I'm really enjoying the new body, after adjusting a bit. I've switched to back button focus and am using auto-ISO, which has good parameters for SS and ISO. Image quality is definitely a big upgrade from the 7D, not as much from the 5Dc.
