You know I can be a lens snob par excellence but I gotta say for SO many things this super zoomer is just flat out super.

I decided to get out and take some pictures yesterday as I really have not gotten out in a very long time to shoot anything. I decided to just bring the one lens and have a bit of fun. Dang the D700 is one fine picture taker. I could have uploaded the jpegs and not much would have changed I spit the raw files out from LR with just a minor white balance tweek since i forgot to adjust it to suit me better at the time

If anyone is on the fence about a super zoom i hope this helps

J

here is a sample but there is a whole mess of them on my flickr page from the show

Nora Jane

PS: if someone can help me embed the image in this process instead of the link I would appreciate it, yeah I know I am getting old lol

The one you linked to is super! A great shot, regardless of lens used.

+1

I use the old 28-200G lens, the 28-300 is more wonderful - there are many times I would like a bit more reach. And with a D800 should be quite the setup

Hey Joe,

the difference between 200 and 300 is really quite a lot, this lens is so versatile

Beautiful shot!

At the top of your image on flickr click on "Share", then copy the code under "Grab the HTML/BBCode" , and past here in your FM post. Oh, I forget, before copy the code, activate the "BBCode option and define image size under the "Grab the HTML/BBCode".
Hope this helped you.

It did not work because you grabbed the HTML code which will not work on forums. You have to click the the BB code option first then copy the code.

Nice shot BTW. I miss the 28-300 and thinking about getting it again.

Deja Vu all over again John. I drove the length of Minnehaha Parkway when I visited Minneapolis a couple years ago, my only visit since 1996 when my mother died. Minneapolis in the summer is a lovely place to visit but I can't say after 26 Minnesota winters that I regret my decision to move west. California's climate suits me better.

The photo of Nora Jane is delightful... definitely a reminder of all the lovely Scandinavian and German beauties who live in the north country. The lens definitely appears to be a winner.

Johnny Mack! Long time no see mister... great to have you back posting images, and that's a great shot regardless of the lens used... nice up close and personal shot makes you feel like you were there.

Nice to see ya around!

The 28-300 is indeed a sweetie-pie:

https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/949449/0#8981171

Hard to beat for a "do-it-all" lens. Haven't had much else on my D3s - it likes it!

The 28-300mm has become my "walking around" lens. It is the lens that I use quite often since it gives you a good range of view angles and it is not bulky. Generally, I do travel with a long lens or a big telephoto like the 200-400mm and I always bring with me the 28-300mm to shoot other kind of pictures. For example, last year I was in Arizona (doing bird photography) and I went up to the Grand Canyon. I did not have one of my fast wide-angle lenses with me but I had the 28-300mm that served me quite well. This is a shot (28mm) of Grand Canyon (south rim).
