I wanted to share an image from today's impromptu shoot at the Salk Institute in San Diego. What an amazing place with soo many places to shoot!

We couldn't take any powerful lights, so it was a little challenging to get the right exposure with the San Diego sun!

Wow, impressive! You must have used some external lighting to overcome the sun. I think that I've seen photos of Chihuly glass in that location.

Thanks everyone for your comments! @deinfaces, yes used a Sunpak 120j with no modifier to light.

@bbourizk, I know but wrong time of the year for the sun to fall right in the middle of the two buildings.

Nice Andy. I have a B/W enlargement of the Salk on my wall that I shot along that line. The one nit I have is that with such strong symmetries it should truly be symmetric and the buildings are a little off.

Great shot!

This place is INSANELY COOL from a photog's perspective. Is it open for anyone to shoot? It just seems too awesome to be open to the public.

I do love her greek goddess look - wish there was less shine on the skin, maybe softer contrast on her skin altogether but still an epic shot.

Thanks everyone for your comments! I appreciate all of them!

The salk institute is open to the public to shoot, you just have to call ahead and check in if you're going to be using lights. We didn't know this and so we got told by the Salk's official photographer about calling ahead.

We didn't have big lights or stands, so that's why I don't think they kicked us out. That's why I love traveling light, you are more incognito and can accomplish more!
