I've used SanDisk Extreme CF and SD series cards since 2005, nearly 9 years of great service. It's all about fast and reliable performance and these cards deliver in spades. Quality control is so good I've never had to test SanDisk customer service. I've washed and dried my CF cards several times, rubbed them with keys and rocks and they worked perfectly. I don't expect SD cases to stand up to the same kind of abuse CF cases can take, but I've been getting the same great performance otherwise. I'll be back for more Extreme when the 64GB gets more affordable. Right now the best bang for buck is the 32GB size. Great card: fast, reliable and priced right.
I recommend reading your camcorder or camera manual, and see what it states as the write speed at the quality setting you plan to use. If it bothers to state it, I believe there is a reason. If not stated, then don't worry, the minimum write speed by the minimum card spec should be fine. For me, my manual (Sony HD Camcorder) clearly stated a write speed at about 23 MB/s for the mode I use, and up to 28 MB/s. So I made sure I had a card that was internally capable of writing at the stated speed. That way the card itself could not possibly be the bottleneck. Now your manual should state the minimum card spec, like "class 6" or "class 10", or "UHS-I". Class 10 refers to a 10 MB/s minimum sustained write speed, and makes indication that your camera or camcorder will actually take any advantage of using more than the minimum spec if it doesn't say otherwise. Personally, I figure if the manual states write speeds separately, and only states a class 6 minimum, I am not taking any chances, as the math doesn't make sense. A minimum spec class 6 could not possibly capture 28 MB/s of HD video over a long period of time without an equally sized internal buffer, or else it would have to degrade quality to keep up. So I would see if you manual actually lists any numbers to see if it would matter in your case.
This is a UHS-I rated card, and class 10, and backward compatible. For UHS-I, I believe it is something that the hardware does have to specifically support to use the bus differently. So you are likely to get somewhere less than that for devices supporting only beyond class 10 specifications. I might guess that might mean somewhere near the 30 MB/s of the previous models claim before UHS-I. For more on classifications, wikipedia is a good source. Just do not expect to take full advantage of this card unless you have a UHS-I, or even beyond class 10, depending on device, which might not even be clearly documented. In the end, I am happy with my choice with SanDisk.
When we used the card with the camera it completely remedied the problem she had where her screen would go black for a couple seconds after taking the picture (writing to memory). No surprise because she was using a 4GB Class 4 card prior to installing this one. She was then able to shoot pictures in quick succession as she had always wanted to do. That was her only gripe and I was a real hero :)
When using my R24 I noticed that when arming tracks, moving things around, recording a track and stopping recording no longer gave me a "Please wait" sign. All the commands were handled near instantaneously and it took significantly less time for my band to complete a full song because we didn't have the added time of waiting for the recorder to write to memory. I still experienced some lag when recording 8 tracks at once in WAV format, but that's understandable and nowhere near as slow as before. I was using a 16GB Class 6 card previously.
I can't verify if the R/W speeds for the cards are what is advertised but I don't care because they were certaintly fast enough to alleiviate those two issues and I couldn't be happier. Plus, they have 32GB of storage space!

Imported from Ireland and I got it for Rs 2104 plus delivery charges Rs 85.
Inserted into my SONY Alpha 57K and formatted to get roughly 29GB usable space.
Video recording is without any glitches...very smooth coding and playing in high definition AVHD and MP4 format videos.
I tested at 50p/50i/25p and all videos are recorded and played very smoothly.
It carries 5 yr warranty, and compared to tran-scend, this make is preferable due to good service in case of any trouble during its warranty period.
It gives you 45 MB/s speed both in read and write modes.
overall worth its price.
Now the prices have come down!

SanDisk 32GB 45MB/s Extreme HD Video SDHC Card
Item model number: SDSDX-032G-X46
Does the 32GB offer decent space for games?
To give you an idea of the level of space this card has, after switching to the 32GB card (using a simple online guide) I went through the "system settings> data management> nintendo 3DS> software" on my 3DS XL and waited. On the top screen it shows how many open blocks are on your current SD card. Mine showed over 200'000 extra free blocks, which is superb considering one of my large downloaded titles (Animal Crossing) is approximately 6'000 blocks.
Overall impression:
This is exactly what I wanted really, to have more space to download games without having to keep inserting game cards and taking them in and putting them back in their boxes. I will still buy physical copies of games too, but for my favourite titles that I know I'll play frequently, or for the games that only have digital copies, it's a relief to have a lot of space. More gaming for me! Buy from Amazon to be sure of safe return in case of faulty cards, and do not delete the data from your old card until you are sure the new one works, for the same reason.
Sorry to be so long winded, but there were a lot of reviews here about how this card works for cameras, and I didn't see any about the 3DS XL potential. It works, it's easy to do, and it enhances your little handheld console to the MAX! Save game data is safe, and so are downloaded titles and Mii accomplishments in spotpass. It's basically like a system transfer only it takes a LOT less time (at least mine did).
If you are still unsure, go to the Nintendo website FAQ pages. They are very helpful and there are even tutorial viedos on YouTube from people who have done exactly the same thing. Happy gaming!
